Student Employment Opportunities

Hillel at Miami University (Hillel) is a non-profit, cultural and educational organization.

Mission:

“Hillel at Miami University, the center of Jewish life on campus, seeks to engage, connect, and empower Jewish students, encouraging exploration of their Jewish identity, creating a vibrant Jewish community, and inspiring the next generation of Jewish leaders.”

Vision (Adopted from Hillel International Mission and Vision):

“Hillel's vision is to enrich the lives of Jewish undergraduate and graduate students so that they may enrich the Jewish people and the world.”

Va’ad Student Leadership

We are excited to present a new leadership structure for the 2024-2025 Va’ad Student Leadership team. It is comprised of the following:

Executive Team

President

Vice President

Treasurer

VP Team

VP of Jewish Life

VP of Social Programming

VP of Israel Affairs

VP of Greek Life

VP of Community Service

Each of our VP’s will oversee a committee of students who will brainstorm and develop ideas for new and engaging events and/or initiatives.

The Engagement Intern team will be responsible for building relationships and creating experiences specifically for incoming first-year students at Miami University.

The Social Media and Marketing Intern will be responsible for the creation of content on all social media platforms. They will work in partnership with the Assistant Director to enhance Hillel at Miami University’s brand and marketing on campus.

The Va’ad Student Leadership team and Interns of Hillel at Miami are selected through an application and interview process via a selection committee comprised of Senior Hillel students and Hillel staff. The Va’ad Student Leadership and Interns, in partnership with the Assistant Director, possess ‘ownership’ over the programmatic vision of Hillel at Miami.

In addition to the Va’ad Student Leadership team, staff members create and offer paid internship and fellowship opportunities for specific operational/engagement/educational needs, which are disguisable from voluntary leaders by checking at least two of the following: 1) Have contractual requirements to meet goals/benchmarks, 2) utilize a student’s professionally-aspired skill/field of study, and/or 3) require tedious administrative work.

Culture

Hillel at Miami strives to be a student-focused organization that cultivates peer-to-peer programming and engagement and authentically provides a student-owned environment. The organization’s primary programmatic decision-makers are meant to be the Va’ad Student Leadership and Engagement Intern teams, who are then supported by the Hillel staff. All Jewish Miami undergraduate students are welcome to become involved in the various available leadership opportunities and committees of Hillel at Miami, including non-elected official or unofficial lay leadership positions reporting to the Executive Committee.

Hillel: Association of Jewish Students (Hillel: AJS) is a registered student organization whose executive committee comprises the President, Vice President, and Treasurer. The Executive Committee works with Hillel at Miami University to serve the Jewish student body, Miami University staff and faculty, and the surrounding community and create meaningful and innovative opportunities for students across campus to engage in and with Jewish life.
