Career Opportunity in Social Organizing for Miami Graduates and Alumni
After years of research into best practices, experimentation, evaluation, and refinement, the DART Organizers Institute has become THE elite field school in the training of grassroots community organizers in the country.
DART is now accepting applications for the 2010 DART Organizers Institute, the paid, four-month field school for people interested in launching a career in community organizing. Participants will undergo a combined classroom and field training covering such topics as:
Entering a community
Identifying and training local leaders
Strategic planning and issue cutting
Relationship and community building
Direct Action on community issues
Fundraising
The DART Center, has built coalitions throughout the country that have won important victories on a broad set of justice issues including:
Education reform in low-performing public schools
Job Training
Drugs and Violence
Criminal Recidivism
Living Wage
Neighborhood Revitalization
Predatory Lending
Affordable Housing, etc.
The DART Organizers Institute combines a 7-day classroom orientation with 15 weeks of infield training at a DART host organization. This is a paid training program that includes: a $7,000 living stipend, transportation to the classroom orientation and host city, and mileage reimbursement during the infield training. Room, board, and tuition will also be paid by DART during the 7-day classroom training. After successful completion of the program, DART will work to place graduates into permanent full time salaried positions (ranging from $32-35,000/year for Associate Organizers and $35-40,000 for Lead Organizers; starting salary + health & benefits).

SITE-BASED PROGRAM MANAGER
The Site-Based Program Manager designs and implements site-based and activity-based mentoring programs for BB/BS Association. The program Managers duties combine both clinical and administrative aspects, ranging from recruiting, interviewing, assessments training public speaking and activity planning. Additionally, the program manager seeks out new site-based opportunities for the agency wherever appropriate. Good communication skills are essential for liaising with schools, volunteers, clients and corporations. Masters degree in social work preferred.
Hours: 40 hours a week divided between mentoring activities, recruiting, exhibiting and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities include:
- Recruitment of volunteers through contacts with professional and lay leaders, educators, presentations to community groups, congregations. Outreach to youth groups, seniors, etc.
- Screening of potential volunteers when appropriate- Review applications, Conduct screening interviews, process applications and review with executive director. Secure parental permission where indicated. Send acceptance letters to approved volunteers.
- Training of volunteers
- Counseling
- Consultation and outreach to teachers for referrals to program.
- Consultations with parents as needed
- Case management
- Develop matches based on child needs and mutual interests
- Monitor matches- review maintain attendance records, follow up consults with teachers, child, volunteer and parent.
- Organize recognition event for volunteers
- Program review: complete POE surveys 2x/yearly for outcomes and BBBSA agency reports.
- Marketing of the agency at expos, agency fairs, synagogues etc.
- Participation at agency events as directed

Congregation Ohav Shalom, in the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio is looking for a vibrant, part- time Religious School Director to oversee our two-day a week program. Our school achieved the framework of excellence from the USCJ in 2002. We are seeking an individual who is well versed in religious school academics, interactive with students, and comfortable working with our family education model to ensure the quality of our educational program. The Religious School Director will work with approximately 85 children ranging in age from Kindergarten through Grade seven, and an established team of exceptional teachers. We offer a warm and friendly environment within a well- established accredited Conservative program. Candidate must have strong computer skills, and have a flexible schedule in order to participate in grade level Shabbat services, holiday programs, special events and evening meetings.

Israel Government Fellows Program
The Israel Government Fellows Program of the Menachem Begin Heritage Center is in the middle of its inaugural session and is enjoying great success. A MASA initiative endorsed by Israel's Prime Minister, the Israel Government Fellows Program is currently the only gateway for non-Israelis to work within the Israeli government apparatus. The program consists of a three-week orientation seminar, followed by a five-month fellowship experience. Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC) is seeking a Director of Outreach, Education and Training to be a key contributor in designing and delivering impactful youth programming to help them accomplish their mission of global interfaith cooperation. Interfaith Youth Core is expanding its executive team which provides leadership to this quickly growing organization. IFYC seeks a Director of Outreach, Education and Training. The successful candidate will be a knowledgeable and respected voice on matters of religion and interfaith youth work. A Bachelors degree, in Religion or other related field, is required; an MDiv or PhD is strongly preferred. S/he will be an innovative, dynamic and highly skilled professional with experience leading interfaith youth, preferably on a college/university campus. Additionally, s/he will be committed to the mission of IFYC with an ability to contribute both organizationally and substantively to the programmatic and strategic priorities of the organization. A demonstrated ability to develop and deliver educational and curricular materials of a high quality and to train and mentor staff to do the same, is required. The successful candidate must be able to contribute to IFYCs growth with the ability to recognize and capitalize on opportunities for increasing the organizations number of program engagements. Candidates must also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and sensitivities, with an ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.

As school starts back up again and your graduating seniors are starting to think about life after graduation, please do not forget to tell your students about the Goldring/ Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life Education Fellowship.
The Goldring/ Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life (ISJL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and documentation of the practice, culture, and legacy of Judaism in the South. Available at the end of the current school year, we will have several positions for recent graduates looking to enter the field of Jewish education or communal work.
The ISJL Education Department will be looking to hire recent graduates for its Education Fellowship. The Fellowship is an opportunity to get involved in a variety of aspects of Jewish communal life. Fellows travel throughout the South to assist with the implementation of a comprehensive religious school curriculum which was developed by the ISJL specifically for smaller, Southern Jewish communities, as well as conduct a variety of other community programs. This is a full-time, two-year position.
