The mission of Big Brothers/Big Sisters Association of Cincinnati is to promote the development of youth in the general and Jewish community through quality mentoring relationships. 
 
Big Brothers/Big Sisters (BBBS) - a United Way & Jewish Federation of Cincinnati funded agency - is looking for an energetic and team-oriented case manager. Requires minimum of a bachelor's degree in social services or related field, experience working with children and families; degree in social work preferred.  Experience working in the Jewish community a plus.
 
Job Description:
-Manage intake and all casework for volunteers and clients
-Plan and coordinate monthly group activities
-Work with Executive Director on marketing materials/agency newsletter
-Work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors for fundraising and volunteer recruitment events
-Interview clients and volunteers
-Provide support to volunteers and families
-Respond to community referrals
-Recruit children in targeted populations (low-income, children of incarcerated parents)
-Manage program statistical reports
-Complete annual program evaluation report through the United Way
-Complete annual program evaluation report through BBBS of America
-Manage alumni clients’ scholarship and loan program
-Other duties as assigned
 
Requirements:
-Minimum bachelor’s degree in social services or related field (degree in Social Work is preferred)
-Experience working with children and families
-Some evening, afternoon hours
-Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher
-Ability to multi-task

Selah Leadership Program Accepting Applications
Applications are now open for Cohort 5 of the Selah Leadership Program.
 
The Selah Leadership Program* trains a cross-section of leaders in Jewish and secular organizations to be effective, sustainable and collaborative agents for change. Through its six month training program, Selah provides unparalleled personal leadership training, skills to facilitate organizational change, and opportunities for social networking.  

Selah is transforming leaders, their organizations, and the broader Jewish social justice field. Since 2003, we have trained more than 260 leaders representing 150 organizations from around the country. We are currently accepting applications for our fifth cohort.

The Jewish Funds for Justice seeks a part-time summer intern in New York City. The intern's primary responsibility will be to help plan and implement a conference for bloggers who write about progressive issues from a faith-based perspective.The conference will take place during the summer of 2008. The intern may also be involved in planning a non-partisan Jewish effort to educate and mobilize voters for the fall election. As a member of JFSJ's communications team, the intern will have the opportunity to blog about progressive and Jewish issues on jspot.org.

Religious School Director of Education (Part-Time)
Congregation Ohav Shalom, in the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio is looking for a vibrant, part- time Religious School Director to oversee our two-day a week program. Our school achieved the framework of excellence from the USCJ in 2002.  We are seeking an individual who is well versed in religious school academics, interactive with students, and comfortable working with our family education model to ensure the quality of our educational program. The Religious School Director will work with approximately 85 children ranging in age from Kindergarten through Grade seven, and an established team of exceptional teachers. We offer a warm and friendly environment within a well- established accredited Conservative program. Candidate must have strong computer skills, and have a flexible schedule in order to participate in grade level Shabbat services, holiday programs, special events and evening meetings.

Israel Government Fellows Program

The Israel Government Fellows Program of the Menachem Begin Heritage Center is in the middle of its inaugural session and is enjoying great success.  A MASA initiative endorsed by Israel's Prime Minister, the Israel Government Fellows Program is currently the only gateway for non-Israelis to work within the Israeli government apparatus.  The program consists of a three-week orientation seminar, followed by a five-month fellowship experience.  Each Fellow works closely with a government official in a Ministry or other government branch, depending upon the Fellow's particular  interests. Interfaith Youth Core is expanding its executive team which provides leadership to this quickly growing organization. IFYC seeks a Director of Outreach, Education and Training. The successful candidate will be a knowledgeable and respected voice on matters of religion and interfaith youth work.  A Bachelor’s degree, in Religion or other related field, is required; an MDiv or PhD is strongly preferred.   S/he will be an innovative, dynamic and highly skilled professional with experience leading interfaith youth, preferably on a college/university campus.  Additionally, s/he will be committed to the mission of IFYC with an ability to contribute both organizationally and substantively to the programmatic and strategic priorities of the organization.  A demonstrated ability to develop and deliver educational and curricular materials of a high quality and to train and mentor staff to do the same, is required. The successful candidate must be able to contribute to IFYC’s growth with the ability to recognize and capitalize on opportunities for increasing the organizations number of program engagements.  Candidates must also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and sensitivities, with an ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.

As school starts back up again and your graduating seniors are starting to think about life after graduation, please do not forget to tell your students about the Goldring/ Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life Education Fellowship.
 
The Goldring/ Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life (ISJL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and documentation of the practice, culture, and legacy of Judaism in the South. Available at the end of the current school year, we will have several positions for recent graduates looking to enter the field of Jewish education or communal work.
 
The ISJL Education Department will be looking to hire recent graduates for its Education Fellowship. The Fellowship is an opportunity to get involved in a variety of aspects of Jewish communal life. Fellows travel throughout the South to assist with the implementation of a comprehensive religious school curriculum which was developed by the ISJL specifically for smaller, Southern Jewish communities, as well as conduct a variety of other community programs. This is a full-time, two-year position.
