Holocaust Remembrance to be Held at Miami University April 13-16
OXFORD, OHIO -- The first campus and community-wide Holocaust Remembrance Program will be held April 13 to16 at Miami University.
At 6 p.m. April 13, the community is invited to a special Shabbat service and dinner at Harris Dining Hall (South Quad). Parking is available at Harris. Harris Dining Hall is located between Anderson Hall and Stanton Hall located between Maple and Oak streets.
At 2 p.m. April 15, there will be a Cincinnati community-wide Holocaust Remembrance Program at Northern Hills Synagogue at 5714 Fields Ertel Road in Fields Ertel, Ohio.
At noon April 16, professor Gerardo Brown-Manrique will give a lecture in 001 Alumni Hall. He will speak about Lives Lost, Lives Saved: Victor Furth, Rudolph Frankel, Their Families, Their Clients, in Interwar and Postwar Europe.
At 7pm April 16 in Leonard Theater of Peabody Hall (Western Campus) the Walking Theater Project, a campus theater group with perform vignettes based on the Holocaust and Judaism on Miami's campus today. Immediately following the performance a movie will be shown with a discussion led by professors Erik Rose and Mia Biran.
All events are free and open to the public. The programs appeal to anyone who enjoys learning about other cultures, and especially those who are interested in the Holocaust and memorializing the 11 million who perished and the millions more who were affected.
