Its been
almost a decade since Tal Rosen first stepped into his campus' Hillel - but
when he shares his memories, it seems like it was just weeks ago. He explains that his student experience at the
Dickinson College Hillel allowed him to shape his own Jewish identity and find
his academic interests as well. "It
wasn't the organization that excited me," Rosen shares with a smile, "but the
possibility of building community." It
is that same drive for student leadership and self determination that brings Rosen
to be the new Executive Director of the Hillel Foundation at Miami University.
Rosen's deep
roots in Jewish professional life span from an internship with Hillel's Schusterman International Center,
to Rabbinic internships, to work as an educational consultant and trainer. In this past year he successfully completed
Miami's accelerated MBA program, completing his coursework in Beijing, China. Combining his experience in non-profit
management, Judaic knowledge and first-hand knowledge of Miami's unique campus culture, Rosen is ready
to hit this year running.
Besides his
interest in teaching and learning, Rosen is committed to economic justice and
makes his home in a diverse neighborhood in Cincinnati's Over the Rhine. In his spare time, Rosen is an avid athlete,
enjoying tennis, golf and running. Last
year, along with his father and his fiancˇ Anna, Tal completed a 5 day bike
ride through Israel
to raise money for progressive Judaism.
