Donate, don't throw away what you are leaving in Oxford this summer.
Sharefest
2007 Move-out week is
one of the busiest weeks in Oxford. Many
students leave Oxford during the summer, and
simply cannot take everything with them. Much
of the trash standing along the streets
during move-out week includes items that can
be reused. In early 2005, a small group of
concerned citizens, City staff and service
organization members founded ShareFest to
collect such items. Collection of items
prevents waste and promotes cleanliness. Best
of all, usable items to go people who need
them the most.
In 2006, 270 families were served. In some
cases, families were able to fill entire
homes with items such as couches, beds,
dressers, desks and kitchen tables. In
addition, many teenagers received
high-quality clothing items. Many food items
were distributed through the Summer Harvest
Food Drive, benefiting residents seeking food
relief through The Family Resource Center.
To donate to ShareFest between 5/4-5/7, go
to the ShareFest
website
If you would like to volunteer, please
contact Jamey Rutschilling, (513) 330-2095 or
via
email.
Leave your name, telephone number
(including area code), day & time you'd like
to work and how you'd like to help. Hillel is
proud to be one of the many co-sponsors of
ShareFest.

Mother's Day Flower Sale for Tzedekah
|
|
Tell your female relatives you care about them and help women & children in Domestic Violence shelters.
Flower
Project Send your
mother, grandmother, aunt, & other special
women in your life a Mother's Day card and do
a good deed at the same time. Every year
JWI's
Mother's Day Flower Project delivers flowers
to more than 150 battered women's shelters
across the United States and Israel on
Mother's Day.
You can be part of this gesture of support
and encouragement - both to the special women
in your life (mothers, daughters, sisters,
granddaughters, and friends) who receive
beautiful Mother's Day cards when you make
donations to the project in their honor, and
to the thousands of mothers whose holiday is
brightened as they spend this special day in
a shelter, away from home.
Proceeds from the Mother's Day Flower Project
help at-risk women and children on Mother's
Day and all year, funding a variety of JWI
programs that offer comfort and opportunities
to start building a brighter, independent
future. Make sure to scroll down to
"Hillel at Miami University" in the
partnering organizations so that our Hillel
gets credit for your purchase.
