Hear Professor Todd Hasak-Lowy, Assistant Professor
of Modern Hebrew at the University of Florida,
Gainsville, spead about Israeli Literature of the
Second Intifada.
This lecture will take place on Wednesday, October
25, 2006 at 5:30pm in 1 Alumni Hall
Reading
Professor Hasak-Lowy will be reading from The Task
of this Translator: Stories (HarcourtBooks, 2005) on
Thursday, October 26, 2006 at 6:00pm in 40 Irvin
Hall
Todd Hasak-Lowy is an Assistant Professor of Modern
Hebrew Literature at the University of Florida,
Gainesville.
His academic publications include "A Mad Dog's
Attack on Secularized Hebrew: Rethinking Agnon's
Temol shilshom" (Prooftexts 24:2, Spring 2004) and
"Between Realism and Modernism: Brenner's Poetics of
Fragmentation" (Hebrew Studies 44, 2003). As a
creative writer, Todd debuted last year with the
critically acclaimed The Task of this Translator:
Stories (HarcourtBooks, 2005), and is currently
writing a novel, Captives, which will likewise
appear with Harcourt.

- This is an opportunity to enjoy a nice brunch,
to explore the Hillel building, and to learn about
Jewish life at Miami

Oxford? Please join us for a delicious dinner
Saturday Night
- Dinner is from 5:30PM-7:30PM at HIllel, with
plenty of tiem to eat and attend evening events
- Cost per person is $15.00
Sunday
Conclude your time in Oxford with brunch at Hillel.
We will dine and chat from 10:30AM-1:00PM. Cost is
$10.00 per non-student.

Auction at

Hillel is pleased to announce that the Board of
Directors is sponsoring a goods and services auction
during Parents' Weekend. Bid on items for your
