Ramadan Break-Fast: Breaking the Fast, Building Community

Ramadan
Break-Fast This event, taking
place on Wednesday, October 11th at Hillel at
7:30PM is to honor the fact that this year the
holy months of Tishrei (Judaism) and Ramadan (Islam)
fall within the same lunar month. Please join us
for a free kosher/hallah meal of traditional
foods. Brief presentations will be presnted from
representatives of the Jewish, Muslim, and Christian
communities about Tishrei and Ramadan as well as
fasting within Christian traditions. Everyone is
welcome!

This season we had enough people to form two teams.
Flying Chai B (beginner corec) has a game on
Wedneday, October 11th at 9:45pm.
Flying Chai A (regular corec) has a game on
Wednesday, October 4th at 9:15pm. and
Tuesday, October 10th at 8:35pm.
Help Wanted: Two people
needed to assemble Sukkah by October 4. Job
should
take 2-3 hours with two people working. Must be
available also to take it down some time after
Sukkot. That will also take 2-3 hours. Hours
flexible but must coordinate with each other. Pay

Women's Center
Weekly Resource Consultations have
begun
Every Thursday from 12:00 to 1:30pm in the
Women's
Center Community Room (MacMillan 210). Dr. Jennifer
Browne will be available on Thursdays to provide
information about personal issues including
depression, anxiety, relationship problems, sexual
assault recovery, and eating disorders as well as
information on campus and community resources.
Consulting with Dr. Browne at the Women's Center is
confidential but does not constitute a counseling
relationship. Rather, it is intended to provide
information and help you get connected to campus and
community resources.
Languages
of the Middle East: Introducing Hebrew and
Arabic 2006-2007 Linguistics
Speakers Series Presented by the Linguistics Program
in the English Department at Miami University,
Co-sponsored by the Center for American and World
Studies. GREAL instructors Rachel Rachovitsky and
Saleh Yousef will discuss the languages they teach
in terms of structure, history, community use, and
their relationship to culture in the region.
Please join us for lively linguistic discussion
afterwards, over Middle Eastern food! This program
will take place on Wednesday, October 4th, 6-8 PM
in the Bachelor Reading Room.

"Where Do We Go From Here in the Middle
East"
Dr. Shibley Telhami will speak on this subject on
Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at 7:00 PM in 100 Laws
Hall. Dr. Telhami is the Anwar Sadat Professor
for Peace and Development at the University of
Maryland, College Park, and non-resident senior
fellow at the Saban Center at the Brookings
Institution. The lecture is presented by the Grayson
Kirk Lecture Series and sponsored by the
International Studies Program.
