Letter to Miss
Classes on the High
Holidays
If you are planning on missing classes for Erev
Rosh Hashanah (Friday, September 22, 2006) or for Yom
Kippur (Erev Sunday, October 1st; day Monday,
October 2nd), download
a letter from the website and call Hillel (Amy
or Zarra) to have one of us sign the letter. You can
bring it to a Hillel event, the office or ask us to
meet you on campus. University policy states that
the letters
are due to professors ASAP. Need a copy

Holocaust
Speaker
On Tuesday, September 5, 2006, Holocaust Survivor
and author Gerta Weissman Klein will speak in at
5:00 pm in 128 Pearson Hall. She will speak
about what happened to her and some lessons she
learned from it. Gerta was selected as the main
speaker by the United Nations in January of 2006
during the UN's commemoration of its Holocaust
Awareness Day. Hillel will host a reception and
book signing for Gerta at 7:30 pm on Septebmer 5th.
Don't miss this important event.

Calling all
Broomball Players! Hillel is
still
looking for players for its co-rec team, no
experience necessary.
Buy a "Flying Chai"
T-shirt! The T-shirts will be
blue with white writing. You can personalize the
shirt with your name and a number on the back if you
like. You do not have to play broomball to buy a
shirt. Our goal is to use these shirts for all of
our future intramural teams. If interested in

The Return of Ladies
Night All ladies are
welcome to attend the first ladies night of the
semester on Thursday, September 7th at 6pm.
FREE dinner at Hillel at 6 pm followed by
painting pottery at You're Fired at 7 pm.
Hillel will pay the studio
fee, so your only cost is the pottery you
paint. For questions, more information or to share
your excitement, contact Elizabeth
Gartenberg, chair of Ladies' Night.
Shabbat Services and FREE
Dinner
Join us for on Friday,
September 8th for student-led services at
6:00 pm
and dinner at 7:00. All are welcome for services,
dinner or both. Dinner is free, kosher and
has vegetarian options. Come connect with old
friends, meet new friends and enjoy great food!

This weekly free class and free dinner will be every
Monday beginning at 7:15 pm at Hillel.
The next session is next Monday, 9/11. Come
learn with Rabbis from the Cincinnati Kollel. This
program is open to everyone, no prior knowledge
required.
Please note there is no DJ tonight due to labor
day.
Lunch &
Learn
Join Amy, our Director and Rabbinic Resource, for an
informal discussion and free lunch every other
Wednesday from noon to 1 pm. Join us for a
delicious free lunch nextWednesday 9/13 at
Hillel. This
program is open to everyone, no prior knowledge
necessary.

Are you Jewish? Do you want to go to Israel for
free? If you answer yes to these questions, than
Taglit-birthright israel: Hillel is for you. All
Jews between the age of 18-26 who have not been to
Israel on a peer trip qualify for this amazing gift.
Sign up for trips over winter break is on September
12th (next Tuesday). Space will fill very quickly,

just broomball
players. These blue t-shirts with white writing will
say "Flying Chai" in
Top Gun font of the front, and can be personalized
with a name, number,
both, or nothing on the back. They will be around
$10 (when we know for
sure we will let you know). If interested email

shirt size and what you would like the back of yours
to say. Orders must
be receieved by Tuesday, September 12th. Orders are
binding- money will
be collected before the order is sent to the printer.
