What to Do with All the Stuff You Don't Want to Pack & Take Home
|
|
Tzedek (Justice) Opportunity
Do You Have Stuff
You Don't Want to Haul
Home?
Do something good with all the stuff you don't want
to shlep home - give it to someone who can use it!
On May 4 through May 10 the Oxford Community will be
participating in a program called SHAREFEST,
an attempt to collect furniture, other household
items or non-perishable food that students no longer
need and are discarding to redistribute to meet
local community needs. Help spread the word to
students about how to donate and consider sparing a
few hours to volunteer to assist in this very worthy
cause. Be certain all items are still in good
usable shape.
If you want to donate:
Visit the SHAREFEST
website. The web site map shows several
locations where items can be dropped off
Items can also be left at the curb in the Mile
Square for pickup by volunteers starting Thursday,
May 4
Place a copy of the ShareFest sign from the web site
on the items when placed at the curb.
For special, heavy, or unusually large pickups, call
(513)523-8769.
Volunteers are badly needed.
Four hour shifts are organized starting from May 4 -
10 from 8:30 am - 8:30 pm. People are needed to pick
things up from the curbs and transport them to a
central location. People are needed at the central
location for sorting and distribution. People with
trucks are most helpful. To volunteer, please email Charlie
Bowers or Carol Michael
with your name, email, date and time you would like
to volunteer, and how you would like to help. Or
call (513)523-8769 and someone will get back to you
to verify your participation. This is a wonderful
community wide effort to recycle and reuse items in
our local area. Please help us make this a success.

Notice Of
Performance Openings For Yom Ha'atzmaut
2006 There are some 10-15
minute performance spots available
for primarily acoustic single or duo acts on Yom
Ha'atzmaut, Sunday, May 7 at various times between
2
and 7 p.m. at Cedar Village. These are
prime-visibility showcase spots, no pay involved,
however acts may promote cd's for sale if they have
them. They are shorter, but concert-level, sets and
will be in between the performances of our primary
acts. Performers should have some related thematic
material in their set, however they need not be
strictly Judaic or Israeli-themed acts.
These are extremely limited, some on the main
outdoor stage and some indoors in the RCC;
mainstage
acts will have full concert sound with stage
monitors, and indoor acts will have house sound with
multiple mics, stage lighting and excellent Baldwin
grand piano available. If there are any
students or others in the Miami
community who would be interested in being
considered for one of these performance spots, they
should contact D. Landau ASAP at (513) 770-0711,

email at d_landau@msn.com.
