SPECIAL EVENTS
High Holy Days - Hillel is sponsoring dinners and services for the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah (New Year) and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). A list of service times and locations can be found on our website at by clicking here. Registration for the meals and services can be found by clicking here. Suggested donation to attend all meals and services is $18.00 for students (non-JEWLA card holders) and $36.00 for others. We appreciate your contribution to help defray our costs.
 
The Jewish Arts & Culture Colloquium presents:
Dr. Eric Goodman of the creative writing department will be reading from his book "In Days of Awe." The timely reading will take place during the days of awe (between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur) on Tuesday, October 11, 6:30 PM in 40 Irvin



IT'S JEWLACARD TIME
The Jewla Card is back!  This year the card is being offered for a flat-rate of $54.00.  Card holder benefits are: all mailings/emails, free t-shirt, voting privileges to the Association of Jewish Students, all high holiday meals and services, brunch of Parents’ Weekend, discount on Passover seders and meals, and additional reduced prices on other activities throughout the year.  To sign up either fill out a form at Hillel or print it online and mail it in.



REGULAR EVENTS!
Shabbat Services and FREE dinner at Hillel - Friday, Oct 7th, 6 pm. For questions or to volunteer to help with services email Ethan Karp at Karpes@muohio.edu. Dinner is graciously supported by a grant from the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati. Sponsorship of a Shabbat dinner is also available. Please contact Amy (director@muhillel.org) for more information or to sponsor a Shabbat dinner.
 
Do you need a quiet place to study?
Hillel is available to you for studying anytime on any day of the week. You can contact any member of our exec board who can let you into the building with a few hours notice.

JEWISH LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
Discovering Judaism happens
every Tuesday night at Hillel at 7:15pm, led by the Cincinnati Kollel. Come for learning, discussion, and free dinner! NOTE: THERE IS NO DJ THIS TUESDAY DUE TO ROSH HASHANAH.
 
Between Two Worlds: Identity and Imagination- Jewish Literature Discussion Series: his year, Hillel is participating in an exciting book discussion series. Each of the book discussions are at 6:00pm at Hillel. Everyone is welcome. Free dinner related to the theme of the books will be provided. For more information and to register, contact Frances Yates. This program is co-sponsored by the Miami University Libraries, American Library Association, Center for American and World Cultures, Hillel Foundation, Jewish Studies Program, and Lane Public Library. Books are available to borrow at Hillel and King Library.

TZEDEK – MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE
- Help with Katrina relief: we are ordering Mardi Gras beads to sell on campus. The profit will go to helping with the relief effort. Want to help by buying or selling? Are you part of another organization that might want to help? Contact Jeremy at 513 523 5190 or fellow@Muhillel.org
- Hillel is working with local and national agencies to provide the most effective assistance to those affected by Hurricane Katrina in the Jewish and non-Jewish communities. Our Hillel is joining with Hillels across the country to raise funds to assist the relief effort as well as doing short and long-term volunteering. As you may know, there are at least 31 students from universities in New Orleans who are at Miami for the semester. Please let those students know that Hillel is a resource for them, regardless of religious background. Email or speak with Amy (director@muhillel.org / 523-5190) for more specifics on how you can help.



CAMP WISE SEEKS ALUMNI
Camp Wise, the residential camp of the Cleveland, Ohio Jewish Community Center is seeking alumni in anticipation of its 100th anniversary in 2007. Alumni of all ages are encouraged to contact the Camp Wise office at 216-593-6250 and to register in the alumni database online at www.campwise.org. A number of events are planned in conjunction with the anniversary celebration.. For more information, see www.campwise.org.

- Greg Salomon would like to request ride homes to Columbus, Ohio (more specifically Gahanna if possible) for Wed October 12th late or the following Thursday early morning to Sun October 16th. He also desperately needs a ride for thanksgiving break (beginning Tue Nov 22nd).

Our two story building housing a TV lounge and game room, computer lab, free wireless internet access, and library is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, Sundays from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm, and during program hours. If you have a car and are planning to drive to Hillel programs and meetings, you must register your car with Paula. Unauthorized cars parked in our parking lot will be ticketed.
