**Important information regarding religious services & class attendance, projects and exams.  Miami University has a policy providing for students to miss class and to seek arrangements for coursework due to significant religious holidays. This policy requires that you submit information to each professor within the first two weeks of class. Please go to this link http://www.muhillel.org/JewishLife/ClassHolidaysLetter.pdf on our website for a letter you can print out and take to each professor so that you will qualify for an excused absence for the High Holy Days. You will need to print a letter for every professor whose class you may miss and have each letter signed by Amy. Questions? Email or call Amy (director@muhillel.org 523-5190).

Guest Speaker
- On Monday, September 19, 2005 at 5 pm, Gil Hoffman will speak on behalf of Miami Students for Israel. His speech is titled an "Insider's Look into the Withdrawal from the Gaza Strip." Gil Hoffman is the political correspondent and columnist for The Jerusalem Post, the Middle East's leading English daily. Well-connected to Israeli and Palestinian political leaders, Hoffman has interviewed Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and every major figure across the Israeli political spectrum, and has been interviewed by top media outlets on 6 continents. Join us for this interesting event. Participate in Services:  Hillel sponsors Progressive (a mix of Reform and Conservative traditions) services on campus for the High Holidays.  Arrangements can be made for those who wish to attend services at the Conservative congregation in Hamilton, OH.  More details about High Holidays as they approach.  If you are interested in helping Amy Greenbaum (our rabbinic intern as well as director) with High Holiday services, e-mail her at director@muhillel.org.  Assistance needed to plan services, blow shofar, read torah and/or haftarah, english readings, and music. All backgrounds and abilities are welcome, no Hebrew knowledge nor experience required.

Between Two Worlds: Identity and Imagination - Jewish Literature Discussion Series
This year, Hillel is participating in an exciting book discussion series. Each of the book discussions are at 6:00 p.m. at Hillel. Everyone welcome!
