THANK YOU to Bryan Markovitz and his committee for planning and executing a great event on Monday. Special thanks to Andy Purchase of www.513dj.com for a great party! And, special thanks to Vaad Hoier of Cincinnati for lending us popcorn and cotton candy machines.

Welcome Jeremy Block our new Jewish Campus Service Corps Fellow! Jeremy will be out and about during the first weeks of school welcoming students and connecting them to Jewish life on campus. You can reach Jeremy at (513) 523-5190 or fellow@muhillel.org.

Office Hours with Rabbinic Intern Jeff Brown: What are office hours, you ask? These are designated blocks of time when our rabbinic intern will be on campus and available to: answer any/all of your questions about Judaism; privately "talk" about a challenging issue in your life; discuss being Jewish on campus; talk about the upcoming Hillel program you might be planning; just hang out, etc. Most important for you to know is that the time is set aside for YOU! Appointments in advance are recommended, but not required! For questions or appointments, email Jeff at ravziggy@hotmail.com

Exciting New Study Opportunities at Hillel in the Upcoming Year! This year we are pleased to announce that in addition to continuing the Discovering Judaism (DJ) series taught by representatives of the Kollel of Cincinnati our Rabbinic Intern, Jeff Brown, will also be offering a series of engaging opportunities to begin or expand your Jewish learning. Jeff will be staggering his classes so that one week he'll be teaching on Tuesday night and the next week on Thursday night, along with several Sunday dates. Although the topics of the Tuesday/Sunday classes will be a bit different from the Thursday classes, here's what they both have in common:
•A safe and open environment where you can bring your questions and curiosities.
•A spirit of welcoming where you can feel comfortable bringing your friends and/or your significant others! Those who are not Jewish are ALWAYS welcome at Hillel programming.
•A place that welcomes a wide variety of viewpoints, and encourages debate and even respectful disagreement!
•A place that wants to hear from YOU regardless of your level of Jewish knowledge or observance.
Our Tuesday night/Sunday afternoon classes are going to be more "issues-oriented". We'll try to go in-depth&Mac226; during the time provided to discuss what Judaism has to say about one particular subject. Some of the subjects are a bit controversial so bring your opinions, but come open-minded to hear what your fellow students have to say about it too! Here are some of the dates we've already reserved on the calendar:

Our Thursday night classes will provide us with an opportunity to study a little Tanakh (the Hebrew world for the Jewish Bible) together. We'll be revisiting famous Bible stories, and discussing their impact on Judaism, Western civilization, and of course: our lives today. Take note: the stories aren't exactly as you may remember them from your childhood! Sex and violence in the Bible?!? Oh, yeah. . .

If you have any questions about study opportunities at Hillel, or you&Mac226;d like to suggest a topic for a future discussion, please email Jeff at ravziggy@hotmail.com.

Parents Club Fall Newsletters are in the mail. Calendar of events, Jewla card registration, Parents Weekend Information, and High Holiday sign-up info is included. Make sure that we have your home information so that your parents receive these important announcements. Contact muhillel@muhillel.org.
