Hillel: The Association of Jewish Students Executive Board 2010-2011

Hillel: The Association of Jewish Students Executive Board meets at Hillel Fridays at 2:15 pm every week throughout the Spring 2011 semester. Anyone is welcome to attend and participate in meetings; however, some portions of meetings may include votes or include private matters that are closed to the public. Monica Benedikt President	Year: Senior Hometown: Solon, OH Major: Biochemistry Major E-mail: benedimr@muohio.edu I am so excited for the amazing events that Hillel and The Association of Jewish Students will be hosting this year. What I love about Hillel is that there is something for everyone. We all come from different backgrounds, so we offer programs that are social, religious, cultural, educational and/or service-oriented. Rob Kolmin Executive Program Director	Year: Junior Major: Marketing Hometown: Glencoe, IL E-mail: kolminrs@muohio.edu I'm thrilled to be on AJS board this year.  Previously I was the First Year Students of Hillel Coordinator (FYSH) where I ushered in the largest group of core freshman that Hillel has seen in several years.  I love Hillel because of the community of students and Oxford residents that really make the experiences that I have had here great.  I love getting involved and engaged in all the awesome programs that we plan throughout the year.  If you have any questions regarding programming or anything else about AJS or Miami University, please feel free to send me an e-mail at any time!
Alex Howie Sheliach Tzibur/Religious Facilitator	Year: Senior Major: Accounting and Art History Hometown: Mason, OH E-mail: howieam@muohio.edu I am very excited to be working on the AJS Board for my second year.  I am working with other students from all types of Jewish backgrounds to organize a "Shabbat Committee" that will continue to improve the Shabbat services, get more people involved, and build on an already amazing energy at Hillel.  In addition, I am very happy to be working with Rabbi Rachel on leading a discussion-based class about Shabbat and Prayer which was made possible through the KOACH Campus Enrichment Grant that we received.
Sarah Schneider Communications Director	Year: Sophomore Major: Early Childhood Education Hometown: Montgomery, OH E-mail: schneisb@muohio.edu I am very excited to be the Communications Director of AJS this year because Hillel is one of my favorite places on campus. I love the people I have met at Hillel events; these people create an extremely friendly, warm, and welcoming atmosphere. Friday night services are very meaningful and spirited, and I enjoy catching up with friends at dinner afterwards. Additionally, I enjoy hanging out with peers, learning new things about Judaism, and celebrating our cultural traditions while at our other programs.
Danielle Salomon Treasurer	Year: Freshman Major: Finance, Minors: Entrepreneurship & Chinese Hometown: Bellevue, Washington E-mail: salomodh@muohio.edu As a Finance major, I look forward to contributing to the AJS board as the Treasurer.  I enjoy being part of the Jewish community at Miami University and being on board is a great way to further my involvement.  I am motivated to support Hillel’s participation on campus and expand its influence among more students. I value the variety of programs Hillel offers throughout the year that keep the Jewish community involved and connected.
Kerrie Wilcox Event Coordinator	Year: Junior Major: Exercise Science; Minor: Coaching; Thematic Sequence: Developmental Psychology Hometown: San Diego, CA E-mail: WILCOXK2@muohio.edu This is my first year on the AJS board and I am so excited to get more involved with Miami's Jewish community and get others more involved as well.  My favorite part about Hillel is the people; the door is always open and anyone is welcomed no matter what their religion or sect of Judaism is.
Max Swartz Event Coordinator	Year: Freshman Major: Chemistry Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio E-mail: swartzms@muohio.edu As an AJS Event Coordinator, I look forward to planning up events for everyone in the Jewish community at Miami. I hope to offer to everyone the sense of community I have grown accommodated to whenever I walk into Hillel for Shabbat. I believe this can be accomplished by offering a variety of events that appeal to all Jews of different backgrounds and religiousness. One thing I look forward to is our Spring semester collaboration with MECCA, Miami Students for Israel, and Muslim Student Association, through which we will be planning events showcasing culture and customs in Israel and the rest of the Middle East.

Chad Liber First Year Students of Hillel Coordinator (FYSH)	Year: Sophomore Major: Microbiology Hometown: Sylvania, OH E-mail: libercm@muohio.edu As the new First Year Students of Hillel Coordinator, I'm looking forward to the opportunity to help this year's first year students integrate into the Hillel community. During my first year at Miami, I found the FYSH program to be incredibly helpful in making me feel welcome not only in Miami's Jewish community, but also in the university as a whole. I'm excited about recreating and improving upon my own experience from last year and hope that all of this year's new students will feel welcome and excited about the opportunities that Hillel can provide for them.
